Editor’s note: We received the following message from Ish Theilheimer asking us to share it with family and friends. This Father’s Day weekend seems an appropriate time to do just that.
This music video called Essential Little Things shows our take on how the COVID-19 pandemic has shown us who and what matters most in life. It started with a poem I wrote in early April, which turned into a song. Then, our Stone Fence Theatre performers had to learn how to rehearse, brainstorm and record in isolation from one another. Musicians and singers on the recording are Peter Brown, Evan Burgess, Chantal Elie-Sernoskie, Shirley Hill, Beverly Lewis, Terry Mask, Fran Pinkerton, Lesley Sneddon, Ish Theilheimer and Derek Tolhurst. It took a lot of time and effort, especially from Terry Mask, our wonderful Technical Director, but I hope you will agree with us that the video packs a powerful message.
Last month, Stone Fence Theatre announced the cancellation of its summer season and the postponement of its new musical about Tom Thomson until 2021. Rehearsals will begin this fall for Tom Thomson & The Colours of Canada: Love, gossip and murder in Algonquin Park.
