Snow-lovers: Mark your calendars for two exciting outdoor events!

Opeongo Snow Birds Snowmobile Club 40th Anniversary: The Club is hosting a Trailside Barbecue to celebrate this milestone anniversary on Saturday Jan.28 from 11 am to 4 pm at the Madawaska Community Centre, OFSC Top B @ MLSS Trail 175. Your trailside BBQ features Lodge burger, sausages, hot dogs, chilli, and locally made Snowmobile Cookies, courtesy co-host Spectacle Lake Lodge and Lakeside Smokery. Robbie Burns dinner

Killaloe Lions Club invites you to a Robbie Burns Dinner with live music and wild haggis on Saturday, Jan.28 at The Killaloe Lions Hall, 18 Lake Street, Killaloe. Start time is 6:30 pm. The evening features Celtic and original tunes with heralded Folk Musician Spencer Scharf. Reverend Ken will Address the Haggis. Pipemajor John Mullin will ‘Pipe it in.’

Tumblehome events

MV author Brenda Missen will be reading from her book Tumblehome: One Woman’s Canoeing Adventures in the Divine Near Wilderness at the Pembroke Public Library, Saturday, Jan. 28, at 2 pm.

Missen will also be signing books in the Inanna Publications booth at the Ontario Library Association (OLA) Super Conference, February 3, 2023 between 1 pm and 1:30 pm.

Chase away those winter blues with song

Emily Adam presents Song Seasons, a seven-week singing class:

  • gather to learn songs in multi-part folk harmonies
  • lean into your own unique voice to build complexity, strength and confidence in your singing
  • group and individual vocal development
  • geared towards soprano and alto voices

Public Meeting about MV Development Charges re-scheduled

Reminder that you still have time to have your say about Development Charges in the Township of Madawaska Valley. Due to inclement weather on Jan.12 the public meeting has been re-scheduled for Thursday, February 9, 2023, at 6 pm at the Township of Madawaska Valley, Council Chambers, 85 Bay Street, Barry’s Bay, ON, K0J 1B0.
