Police investigate Silver Lake Rd. break and enter

Police are currently investigating a break and enter to several outbuildings.

On October 30, 2023, shortly after 2:00 p.m., members of the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a break and enter to several outbuildings on Silver Lake Road, in the Township of Bonnechere Valley.

Multiple items were reported stolen which include fishing gear, an Evinrude outboard motor and Husqvarna chainsaws. Police believe the theft to have occurred sometime between October 15, 2023 – October 20, 2023.

Charges laid following Wilowski Road collision

One person has been charged after police investigation into a single vehicle collision.

On November 4, 2023, just after 11:00 p.m., police with assistance from Renfrew County Ambulance and the Madawaska Valley Fire Department responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a pickup truck on Wilowski Drive in the Township of Madawaska Valley.

Police investigation has revealed the driver of the pickup truck suffered a loss of control resulting in the vehicle, leaving the roadway, and coming to rest on a culvert. The 84-year-old driver of the pickup truck from Barry’s Bay was extricated from the vehicle with assistance from the Madawaska Valley Fire Department and was transported to hospital by paramedics with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of police investigation, the driver was charged with careless driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and issued a Provincial Offences Act notice. The vehicle was towed.

Killaloe OPP lay charges in separate domestic incidents

Police have laid criminal charges in two separate domestic incidents.

On November 5, 2023, just before 3:30 am, officers from the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an assault call for service at a residence in Killaloe Hagarty and Richards Township.

As a result of the investigation a 58-year-old from Killaloe was charged with domestic assault with a weapon, contrary to the Criminal Code.

On the same day at just before noon, police responded to a domestic incident involving threats at a residence on the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan Ontario First Nation Territory, near Golden Lake.

As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old from Renfrew was charged with utter threats to cause death or bodily harm contrary to the Criminal Code.

Both accused persons will appear in court at a later date. The names of the accused will not be released in order to protect the victims.

Police seek public assistance on mischief investigation

Police are currently investigating damages to signage.

On October 31, 2023, just before 1:00 p.m., members of the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a mischief call for service on Combermere Road in the Township of Madawaska Valley.

Uknown culprits chopped down construction and forestry signs in the area.
