Temporary online Hunter Education Program continues to mid-August
Would-be hunters can still obtain their Ontario Hunter Education Accreditation virtually via online learning. This will NOT permit you to hunt with a gun (unless you already have proof of firearms accreditation, such as a PAL or Minor’s Licence). This interim measure is for Ontario Residents only. Once face-to-face gatherings can safely resume (e.g. for regions in Stage 3), the Ontario Hunter Education Program will resume in-person classes. For more details, click HERE.

Unknown seeds prompt OPP warning
The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has received calls regarding unordered seeds that have been delivered to residences by mail from China. If you receive an unsolicited shipment of foreign seeds in the mail do not open the seeds, do not plant the seeds and do not dispose of the seeds. Please contact the Canada Food Inspection Agency (613) 773-8660 where a drop off or a pickup can be arranged.
As the seeds appear to be unsolicited, planting or disposing of them could result in the introduction of an invasive species to the environment. For further information contact the Canada Food Inspection Agency.

EarlyON! Programs to recommence in September
According to a media release dated July 30, Ontario announced its plan to allow licensed child care centres across Ontario to open at full capacity starting September 1, 2020. This decision was made in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health and the COVID-19 Command Table. As a result, parents will be able to return to work knowing their children are in a safe and supportive care setting.
EarlyON Child and Family Centres will also be permitted to reopen with in-person programming along with before- and after-school programs for school aged children which will be permitted to operate with standard ratios and maximum group size requirements. All of these programs will be subject to health and safety protocols in order to keep kids safe.
