Driver hospitalized following collision near Combermere
A single vehicle collision near Combermere has left the driver with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at approximately 3:00 p.m., officers with the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police and members of the Madawaska Valley Fire Department responded to collision on Palmer Road in Madawaska Valley Township.
A vehicle had left the roadway and struck a tree.
The driver, an 86-year-old woman, was transported to hospital by Renfrew County Paramedics. There was no one else in the vehicle.

Madawaska Valley resident charged after disturbance on river near Combermere
An individual has been arrested after a disturbance on the Madawaska River.
On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, shortly after 9:00 p.m., officers with the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the Combermere area. It had been reported that a male in a peddle [sic] boat had been yelling at people at making threats. The disorderly behaviour continued when officers arrived on scene.
An attempt was made to have the individual provide a breath sample with an approved alcohol screening device, but the individual refused.
The 42-year-old male from Madawaska Valley Township was arrested and charged with failure or refusal to comply with the demand for a breath sample. He was transported to the detachment and spent the night in a cell before being released.
The individual is scheduled to appear in court on September 9, 2025
The peddle boat was returned to its owner.
