Barry’s Bay was treated to another wonderful evening of Music in the Park on Friday, July 25th by local musicians Justin Bertrand and Timothy Baklinski. The guitar and fiddle duo delighted the audience of approximately 75 attendees with a selection of lively toe-tapping fiddle tunes as well as a mix of songs from Canadian favourites such as the Great Big Sea and the Tragically Hip. Friday night’s performance was the second show in a lineup of four evenings of a Music in the Park series organized by the Barry’s Bay Recreation Committee. These free outdoor performances take place at the Railway Station in Barry’s Bay from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, each on a Friday evening. All you have to bring is your own lawn chair! Launching the concert series in early July were Tom Martel and his daughter Olivia, who played their original material in addition to covers of country hits and 90s rock classics.

The last two performances of Music in the Park take place August 8th and 22nd. On August 8th the audience will be treated to guitar virtuoso Christian Whelan, who uses Modern Percussive Finger style to perform rock, country and folk by blending melody, rhythm and harmony into a singular musical experience. August 22nd features Reg Corey who uses his unique finger picking style to perform classic covers from folk, country and soft rock pop and contemporary genres specializing in Canadian music. Be sure to grab a lawn chair and check them out.
