Madawaska Valley reduces fire ban to Level 1
As of Monday June 1 the Township of Madawaska Valley has reduced the Fire Ban to Level 1 allowing campfires and fireworks.
COVID-19 tests for the public
With the Ontario government’s expansion of COVID-19 testing to people who believe they have been exposed or for people who are at risk of exposure to the virus (e.g. essential workers such as health care workers, grocery store employees, food processing plants), here’s when and where you can get a test this week. Note: Barry’s Bay Tues/Thurs/Sat evenings.

Shop The Valley Contest
Shop The Valley is a new initiative from the Renfrew County Economic Task Force, composed of business leaders from all sectors and from across the County who are advising County Council on the business issues and challenges they face during this economic crisis. Your participation in “Shop the Valley Contest” helps support all local businesses. Shop local, support our business community and have fun doing it safely during this health crisis. Participating merchants from across the County and the Ottawa Valley, selling all kinds of products and providing all kinds of services, have generously contributed a broad range of prizes to the first “Shop the Valley Contest”.
It is easy and you can enter as often as you wish. Simply shop local at restaurants, stores, garden centres, craft brewers, etc. If you shopped in-store or did a curbside pickup get a selfie in front of the business. If you ordered online take a picture of the food or product you ordered and submit the photos with the receipt to OVEDINFO@CountyofRenfrew.on.ca
Madawaska Valley businesses have worked creatively help us maintain physical distance and observe the advice from our public health professionals: running a virtual event online, providing take-out or curbside delivery of food and other goods, pre-planned collection times, cashless payment, and more. You don’t have to go far to Shop The Valley around here.
Lakeshore Tennis Club memberships available
Madawaska Valley Township advises that membership forms for Lakeshore Tennis Club are now available online. Click HERE for the form. Please email completed form to recreation@madawaskavalley.ca and payment can be made by e-transfer to treasurer@madawaskavalley.ca
The Township has published its COVID-19 guidelines for use of the tennis courts. Each player must:
- Bring their own “marked balls” not to be handled by other players
- Practise physical distancing of other players and equipment
- Bring their own hand sanitizer and use liberally
- Stay home if any health issues or travel history
- To comply with government mandated regulation, only 5 persons allowed on the courts at the same time
- Ideally, singles play only. If playing doubles, it should be with members of the same households. Separate balls for individual households, whether singles or doubles play.
