Families enjoy Library Hallowe’en Hunt

The mild but damp weather on Saturday, Oct.30 provided a comfortable environment for family members of all ages to participate in the Madawaska Valley Public Library’s Hallowe’en Hunt. Twenty-six merchant members of the Barry’s Bay Business Improvement Area (BIA) displayed Hallowe’en Hunt icons in their shop fronts, and many also joined in the fun with scary decorations and treats for the children, while Madawaska Valley Township provided a free hot dog lunch at the Railway Station. The Current followed some earlybird Hunters from Northern Credit Union down Opeongo Line and when we checked in at the Library after just one hour there had already been a steady stream of Hallowe’en Hunters picking up Treasure Maps and handing in completed answer sheets to collect their Treat Bags. Library CEO Karen Filipkowski told The Current that participation had increased substantially since last year, with more than 120 treat bags handed out. Enjoy these images from the fun.
