Maybe you’re looking for a new job or want to learn a new language. Perhaps you’re keen to raise your fitness level. Are you interested in the latest new Fiction titles – or Non-Fiction books? Do you want to kick start your brain by learning to play chess? Or, better yet, how about challenging yourself and up to five friends to compete in the Sept.19th Library Trivia Night – and help raise much needed funds for the Library at the same time! If any of these options appeals to you, then look no further than the Madawaska Valley Public Library.
Library CEO Natalie Barrington recently released the Library’s September Newsletter which outlines some exciting resources available for library patrons.
Every Tuesday from 10am to 3pm the Library hosts an Employment Pop-up provided by Agilec – an organisation that provides a wide range of employment services across Ontario, including job search support, career coaching, training, and employer hiring assistance.
If your goal is to learn a new language, then a new e-resource available from the Library could be your ticket to breaking the language barrier! Mango maintains that it builds the six critical skills necessary for true language learning: vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, culture, comprehension and retention. If you have a Library card, you can log in to Mango from the Library’s e-resources page and have access to 70 languages.
Other brain-building options from your Library:

- Sign up for the Sept.19th Trivia Night. The fee of $75 for a team of up to six players qualifies you for a full evening’s fun, a change at great door prizes and the coveted Trivia Trophy. Individuals can join in the fun – the Library staff will find you a team.
- Chess players (ages 7 and up) can join the Library’s new Chess Club.
Here’s a sneak peek at some new Fiction and Non-Fiction titles available this month from your Library:

Library patrons can also enjoy many of the Library’s regular offerings such as the popular Walking Group which meets at the Library every Friday at 1pm. (Note the return to the afternoon meeting time.) If you have little ones, you probably already attend StoryTime every Wednesday morning at 10:30am. But you’ll be interested to note that this month you can pre-register for a special event on Wednesday Sept.24th at 10:30am when there will be a BIAK Drumming session that includes drumming, stories, and a take-home activity.
For more information and to register for programs please email programs@madawaskavalleylibrary.ca or phone 613.756.2000.
Finally, the Library’s Used Book Sale continues. If you need to re-stock your shelves after the summer’s reading, you can fill a bag with books for just $10. Thanks to Barry’s Bay Metro for donating the red bags.
