OPP continue investigation of serious assault in Renfrew
The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a serious assault in Renfrew.
On Thursday, August 28, 2025, a woman attended a local hospital and reported that she had been held against her will and sexually assaulted at a motel on Stewart Street. The woman also indicated the male, who is known to her, was in possession of a handgun.
The male had already left the motel but was later spotted walking in the area. Officers attempted to take him into custody, but the male fled onto the Algonquin Trail.
Additional officers, including members of the Renfrew Detachment, the OPP Emergency Response Team, the Canine Unit and the Tactics and Rescue Unit converged on the area to expand the search.
While there was believed to be no threat to the general public, a shelter in place was issued just after 9:00 p.m. for the area, out of an abundance of caution.
The extensive search continued throughout the evening, but it appeared the male had managed to flee from the area. The shelter in place was lifted shortly before 1:00 a.m.
The male has been identified, and an arrest warrant is being sought. The male is described as Black, 5’9″ to 6′ (175-183 cm) tall, with hair on the top of his head and the sides are shaved. He has a goatee and a five-star tattoo above his left eyebrow and another tattoo under his left eye. He was last seen wearing a purple plaid jacket, and possibly black shorts and a blue shirt.
If you see this individual or see any suspicious activity in the area, call 9-1-1 immediately. Do not approach. This male is urged to contact the Renfrew OPP to turn himself in.
Anyone with any information, or potentially relevant doorbell, dashcam or surveillance video is asked to call the Renfrew OPP at 1-888-310-1122 and refer to incident E251166365. If you have information, but want to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
