UPDATE from OPP Bancroft Detachment: At 5:35 p.m. on June 6 OPP Issued the following information: Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have concluded the search for a missing person. Just before 2:00 p.m. USRU located the female deceased. A post mortem is scheduled and the investigation is ongoing under the direction of the Office of the Chief Coroner. Foul play is not suspected.
Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continued the search for a missing person on June 6.
On June 5, 2021 just before 8:00 p.m. members from the Bancroft Detachment responded to reports of a 22 year old female from Scarborough that went missing in the water on Papineau Lake, Municipality of Hastings Highlands. Officers received information that the female had fallen off a floating device while in the water and did not make it back to shore.
A search of the area was conducted with the assistance of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT).
The search resumed today with the assistance of the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU). Updates will be provided as they become available.
