Anna Dolan is Green Party candidate

Anna Dolan has spent much of her childhood on the shores of Kamaniskeg Lake along with family and friends and is now proud to call Barry’s Bay her home. The times spent swimming, canoeing and cottaging in the natural beauty of the lake has shaped in her a deep appreciation for the environment and an even deeper appreciation of the precious need to protect it.

A graduate of architecture from Carleton University and a seasoned project manager, Anna believes the Green Party’s values of being fiscally responsible, socially progressive, and environmentally focused will contribute enormously to sustaining that natural beauty as well as the livelihoods and quality of life of all in this community. After all, we have only one planet; there are no viable options

Anna has volunteered in the community to assist professional new comers (architects and engineers) fleeing countries so unlike ours that we cannot imagine, in integrating and finding work in their new home. This has given Anna an appreciation of the opportunities that make us such a rich country not only economically but in democratic rights. Anna believes that we have “won the lottery of life” being in Ontario and Canada, but that does not last without an awareness that it cannot be taken for granted. Our democracy dies a little bit every time we allow silence to replace reasoned thought. The Green Party position of no whipped votes is one side of securing that democracy.

Anna is married and has two adult daughters, both living and working in Ottawa. Her husband, Peter, is also a retired architect and wholeheartedly supports her in this initiative. She loves the outdoors, hiking, swimming, canoeing, cross country skiing and painting.
