OPP Killaloe news as of Mar.4

During the week of February 25, 2019 to March 3, 2019 there were 90 calls for service, including the Whitney Detachment.

  • There were eight motor vehicle collisions, three were animal related.
  • There were four domestic disputes, and one domestic dispute resulting in criminal code charges.

Domestic Assault Charge

On Wednesday February 27, 2019 at approximately 10:07 a.m. OPP Constable Chris Miller entered into a domestic assault investigation at a residence in North Algona Wilberforce Twp. As a result of police investigation, an 18 year old male from North Algona Wilberforce Twp. was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of Wednesday March 27, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

Collisions

On Wednesday February 27, 2019 at approximately 4:13 p.m. members of the Killaloe OPP detachment responded to a single vehicle collision involving a jeep on McGrath Road, and Highway 41, Bonnechere Valley Twp. The 23 yr. old male driver from Oshawa was travelling westbound on McGrath Road, lost control, and entered the ditch. The driver sustained minor injuries. The vehicle was towed. This incident remains under investigation.

On Saturday March 2, 2019 at approximately 10:10 am, Killaloe OPP Sgt. Jordan Bullis and Constable Ryan Lapierre responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway 60 and Wilno North Road, Madawaska Valley Twp. involving a sport utility vehicle (SUV) and passenger car. The SUV was stopped on Wilno Road and proceeded into the path of the oncoming westbound passenger car. As a result of police investigation, 65 year old Bernadette Voldock of Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan Twp. was charged with Fail To Yield To Traffic On Through Highway, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. Both drivers were transported to hospital by ambulance with minor injuries. Both vehicles were towed. The defendant was issued a Provincial Offence Act notice.
