Easter Weekend was a time for family fun in Barry’s Bay. Activities started off with a free story time at the Madawaska Valley Public Library, where kids enjoyed stories read by Library Program Coordinators Julia Beggs and Emily Mintha.

After story time, families could register at the library to go on the Easter Eggstravaganza organized by the Township of Madawaska Valley. The $2 fee included a snack and drink at the end of the route. A clue to the next location on the hunt was available from each checkpoint. The clues were based on well-known local buildings, landmarks such as the Water Tower or historical points along the Heritage Walk. Student volunteers staffed the registration desk and checkpoints along the route, and helped Recreation and Community Development Coordinator Stephanie Plebon serve up pizza, juice and treats after the hunt. Judging by the stack of pizza boxes, quite a crowd of scavenger hunters participated. Library staff reported more than one hundred people had been in to register in the first half hour of the Eggstravaganza.
