Ace of Spades escapes again

For the third time the Ace of Spades proved elusive at the weekly Catch The Ace (CTA) lottery draw on May 2 at 4 p.m. at the Ash Grove Inn, and that means the CTA jackpot is growing. If ticket sales during Week Four are similar to previous weeks, and if next week’s winner has pre-selected the envelope containing the Ace of Spades, that lucky person might suddenly find themselves more than $10,000 richer.

Congratulations go to the Week Three winner, Dean Smaglinski, who receives $1,689. Smaglinski had selected Envelope No. 11 which contained the Two of Diamonds.

As St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation (SFVH Foundation) volunteers say, all Valley residents winners with the CTA Lottery because 50 percent of the proceeds stay in the community as part of SFVH Foundation’s fundraising towards the Valley Manor redevelopment.

The winning ticket drawn each week takes 20 percent of that week’s ticket sales, and if the envelope selected contains the Ace of Spades they also win the jackpot which grows each week that the Ace of Spades remains uncaptured. If the Ace of Spades is found, the estimated total winnings for the Week Four draw to be held on May 9 are $10,174.

Although sales at vendors outside Barry’s Bay stop in the early afternoon next Thursday, the SFVH Foundation sells tickets at the Ash Grove Inn up to 3:30 p.m. on draw day.
