On Tuesday June 11 Madawaska Valley District High School held its annual athletic awards evening to celebrate the school’s athletes and their accomplishments. The event began with the awards ceremony and ended with a dinner and photos. Shown above are the many students who received awards for the 2018-19 academic year. (Photo Julia Beggs)
The 2019 Athletes of the Year are chosen by coaches based on points scored, participation and academics. This year’s winners (shown below clockwise from top left) were Regan Yaraskavitch, Skyler Glofcheskie (both senior) Sam Klawitter and Courtney Pilgrim (both junior).

Major awards also went to the following students:
Emma Klawitter (Grade 12) received The Larry Reynolds award. This award is given to a student who shows extreme dedication to sportsmanship, leadership skills and has good academics. Emma played many sports and also coached the Bantam girls volleyball team.
Dylan Kuehl (Grade 12) won The Wilmer Matthew Award which is given to a student who shows leadership skills both on and off the court. Dylan participated in organizing a few school events such as the broomball tournament and boomer cup (a floor hockey competition).
Aidan Cruchet (Grade 10) received The Ted Wren Award which honours a student who excels in track and field.
