Major drug bust in Bancroft

The Bancroft Detachment of the OPP issued a media release this morning reporting on the execution of drug warrants.

The release reported that in the early morning at approximately 2:55 a.m. on June 20, 2019, members of the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) assisted with officers of the Bancroft Detachment, OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), Tactics Response Unit (TRU) and OPP Canine Unit attended two locations and executed drug warrants on Woodview Lane in the Town of Bancroft, Ontario.

As a result of the investigation, officers arrested four adults and a youth.

During the warrants, stolen items, drug paraphernalia, Morphine, Cocaine, Cannabis products, Heroin, Canadian currency and other items were seized.

As a result of the investigation, Gordy ARMSTRONG, 23 years of Faraday Township, Ontario has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Heroin
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000.

Julia HUNT, 38 years of the Town of Bancroft has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Heroin
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000.

Jody DEJONG, 35 years of the Town of Bancroft has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking.

Ashley SHAW, 29 years of Bancroft Ontario has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – Opioid
  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance

A 15 year old male, Young Offender, who cannot be identified as defined in the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 and
  • Fail to Comply with Sentence.

All accused were held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on June 21, 2019.
