Changes to Highway Traffic Act, Personal Use Trucks and Trailers

The Killaloe OPP would like to share information surrounding changes to the Highway Traffic Act related to personal use trucks and trailers. Effective July 1, 2019 pickup trucks and trailers for personal use are exempt from the requirements of an annual inspection and the displaying of the yellow decal or sticker. To qualify for the exemption, a pickup truck and trailer are to be used for personal use only without compensation. For more information, please contact Provincial Constable Brent Darraugh at the Killaloe OPP detachment.

Misuse of 911 System

The Killaloe OPP remind both community residents and the vacationing public that every time an accidental or hang up 911 call is received, police officers are distracted. If you accidentally dial 911, do not hang up, and stay on the line. Please remember to lock your electronic device keypad before storing it. When false 911 calls are attended by police, you may be taking a police officer away from a real emergency. #KnowWhenToCall
