Killaloe OPP Labour Day Long Weekend, Distracted Driving Campaign Results
The Killaloe OPP participated in the Provincial Labour Day Long Weekend Traffic Campaign which began on Friday August 30, 2019 and concluded Monday September 2, 2019. This campaign focused on Distracted Driving. The Killaloe OPP report the following campaign results:
- 22 Speeding Charges
- 3 Stunt Driving Charges
- 2 Seatbelt Charges
- 2 Distracted Driving Charges
- 13 Highway Traffic Act Moving Violations Charges
- 1 Impaired Driving Charge Criminal Code
Weekly report as of September 2
During the week of August 26 – September 2, 2019 there were 145 calls for service for the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), including the Whitney Detachment.
- There were thirteen motor vehicle collisions, three were animal related.
- There were four domestic disputes which did not result in criminal code charges.
Collision
On Friday August 30, 2019 at approximately 10: 25 p.m., Killaloe OPP responded to a single vehicle collision on Combermere Road, Madawaska Valley Township. The driver of a passenger car had lost control and veered off into the ditch. There were no reported injuries. The vehicle was towed. This incident remains under investigation and charges are pending against the driver.
Break and Enter
On Wednesday August 28, 2019 at approximately 7: 45 a.m. Killaloe OPP responded to a break and enter at a residence on Third Street, Madawaska Valley Township. An Apple computer and a purse were reported stolen. This incident remains under investigation.
Impaired Charges
On Tuesday August 27, 2019 at approximately 2: 30 p.m. Killaloe OPP responded to a traffic complaint involving a vehicle that was driving erratically on Round Lake Road, Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Township. Police located the vehicle and driver involved in the complaint. As a result of police investigation, 62-year-old Arthur MASK of Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Township was arrested and charged with Impaired Care and Control and Over 80, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of Wednesday October 9, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe. The licence was suspended for 90 days.
