OPP Killaloe news Sept. 3-15

During the weeks of September 3, 2019 – September 15, 2019 there were 155 calls for service for the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), including the Whitney Detachment.

  • There were eight motor vehicle collisions, three were animal related.
  • There were nine domestic disputes, four which resulted in criminal charges.

 

Domestic Assault Charges

On Tuesday September 3, 2019 at approximately 10:50 a.m., Killaloe OPP responded to a report of a domestic assault at a residence in South Algonquin Township. As a result of police investigation a 48-year-old from South Algonquin Township was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault x 2 contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of Wednesday October 9, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

On Tuesday September 3, 2019 at approximately 12:15 p.m., Killaloe OPP responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Bonnechere Valley Township. As a result of police investigation a 33-year-old from Laurentian Valley Township was arrested and charged with Domestic Mischief and Breach of Peace Bond, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of Wednesday October 9, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

On Sunday September 8, 2019 at approximately 12:30 a.m., Killaloe OPP responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Bonnechere Valley Township. As a result of police investigation a 31-year-old from Bonnechere Valley Township was arrested and charged with Domestic Mischief and Domestic Assault contrary to to the Criminal Code. The accused was held pending a bail court hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

On Saturday September 14, 2019 at approximately 2:05 p.m., Killaloe OPP responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in South Algonquin Township. As result police investigation a 28 year old was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of Wednesday November 13, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

 

Collisions

On Sunday September 8, 2019 at approximately 12:45 p.m., Killaloe OPP responded to a single vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Major Lake Road, Algonquin Provincial Park. The 54-year-old operator was transported to hospital by ambulance with minor injuries after losing control and veering off into the bush. No tow was required.

 

Drug Charges

On Sunday September 8, 2019 at approximately 5:00 p.m. Killaloe OPP conducted a vehicle check on a passenger car at Centennial Park, Bonnechere Valley Township. As a result of police investigation 62-year-old John LETHIE and 63-year-old Richard SIMMONS both of Bonnechere Valley Township were arrested and charged with Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Both accused were released on Appearance Notices, with a court date of Wednesday October 9, 2019 at 9:30 a.m., Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe.

 

ATV Thefts

On Friday September 13, 2019 at approximately 9:20 a.m., Killaloe OPP responded to a report of a stolen All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) on Martin Siding Road, Madawaska Valley Township. The vehicle is a 2007 Green Arctic Cat 500 with an Ontario licence plate of 75YR4. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Killaloe OPP or Crime Stoppers.

On August 27, 2019 an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) was left on the B -Trail on Turtle Loop, between Madawaska and Whitney after breaking down due to mechanical issues. The ATV was reported stolen on Tuesday September 9, 2019 after the owners went to retrieve the vehicle and realized it was gone. The ATV is described as a 2005 Green Arctic Cat 650 with an Ontario licence plate of 3KK32. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Killaloe OPP or Crime Stoppers.
