Killaloe OPP news for the week of September 16 to 22

During the week September 16 – September 22, 2019 there were 96 calls for service for the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), including the Whitney Detachment.

  • There were six motor vehicle collisions, two were animal related.
  • There were five domestic disputes and one domestic dispute which resulted in criminal charges.

 

Domestic Assault and Domestic Mischief Charges

On Friday September 20, 2019 at approximately 11:20 p.m., Killaloe OPP responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Pikwakanagan, ON.  As a result of a police investigation, a 27-year-old from Pikwakanagan was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault and Domestic Mischief to Property contrary the Criminal Code. The accused was held pending a bail court hearing, Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

 

Collision

On Monday September 16, 2019 at approximately 1:35 a.m., Killaloe OPP responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 60, Madawaska Valley Township involving a passenger car that had veered off into the ditch. As a result of police investigation, 33-year-old Timothy STILES of Ottawa was charged with Careless Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant was issued a Provincial Offences Act notice. There were no reported injuries. The vehicle was towed.

On Saturday September 21, 2019 at approximately 10:20 a.m. Killaloe OPP responded to a single All-Terrain Vehicle collision on Krezel Road, Madawaska Valley Township. The 68-year-old operator from Chesterville was transported to hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries after rolling the ATV. Minor damages to the ATV. No charges laid.

 

Counterfeit Money Charges

On Wednesday September 18, 2019 at approximately 12:20 p.m., Killaloe OPP responded to a counterfeit money call on Opeongo Line, Madawaska Valley Township. Police received several reports from local businesses of counterfeit $100 bills being used. As a result of police investigation, 38-year-old Shayne NEUMAN of Carlo-Mayo Township was arrested and charged with Possession of Counterfeit Money and Uttering Counterfeit Money x 3 contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of Wednesday October 9, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe. Police are asking anyone who may have knowledge surrounding this incident, or may have been a victim to contact the Killaloe OPP or Crime Stoppers.
