During the week of November 12 – November 17, 2019 there were 75 calls for service for the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), including the Whitney Detachment.
- There were nineteen motor vehicle collisions, seven were animal related. Police remind drivers to slow down, adjust driving habits to winter weather and road conditions.
- There were six domestic disputes, one is pending criminal charges and one domestic that resulted in criminal code charges.
Domestic Mischief Charge
On Friday November 15, 2019 at approximately 11:30 p.m. Killaloe OPP responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Bonnechere Valley Township. As a result of police investigation, a 21-year-old from North Algona Wilberforce Township was arrested and charged with Domestic Mischief, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of Wednesday December 11, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
Stunt Driving Charge
On Sunday November 17, 2019 at approximately 2:35 p.m. Killaloe OPP conducted a traffic stop on a pickup truck on Highway 41, Bonnechere Valley Township. The driver was charged with Stunt Driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act, after being found travelling at 145 kilometres in a posted 80 kilometre hour zone. The 23 year-old-driver from Petawawa was issued a summons to appear in court. The licence was seized, and the vehicle towed and impounded for seven days.
Collision
On Thursday November 14, 2019 at approximately 7: 35 p.m. Killaloe OPP responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 60, North Algona Wilberforce Township. The driver of a sport utility vehicle was arrested and charged with Over 80, contrary to the Criminal Code after operating a motor vehicle while impaired. Charged is 23-year-old Hunter MALONE of Bonnechere Valley Township. The accused will appear in court on Wednesday December 11, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe. The vehicle was towed, and the licence suspended for 90 days. There were no reported injuries.
Theft
On Friday December 15, 2019 at approximately 2:45 p.m. Killaloe OPP responded to a report of a theft at the Eganville LCBO on Bonnechere Street W. in Bonnechere Valley Township. The male suspect fled on foot from the store after stealing a bottle of alcohol. The suspect is described as six feet tall, slim build, wearing a black coat and yellow hoodie. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Killaloe OPP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
