Sherwood PS Parent Council hosts Hunters’ Bingo

This year’s Hunters’ Bingo was an enjoyable public event, and was well appreciated by many members of the community. Organized by the Sherwood Parent Council, the second annual Hunters’ Bingo took place at the Barry’s Bay Legion Branch 406 on November 13. Starting an hour before play began, a bake sale to raise funds for the end of year trip for the grade 6/7/8 class was held in the Legion Hall. Two items were sold out and many more were down to low quantities before the bingo even started. Manned by a small group of grade 6 and 8 students, the bake sale earned over $170. Players enjoyed generous game payouts like a $300 jackpot! All the money raised is going towards school trips and sports equipment for Sherwood Public School. Because it’s such a fun evening, the Parent Council and students plan to hold more community events, so watch out for the announcement of the annual Spring Bingo.

The students and the Sherwood Parent Council would like to thank Leah Kinghorn for her help in organizing the event. They also appreciate the assistance from four high school students who volunteered to help in the kitchen and on the bingo floor. The time they spent working at the Hunters’ Bingo goes towards their community hours.
