Services offered during library closure

As outlined in this media release, Madawaska Valley Public Library staff have instituted ways to provide library materials during the library’s closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Although we are closed to the public due to concerns about COVID-19, staff at the Madawaska Valley Public Library will be working to provide access to books, magazines, audio and visual materials in a number of ways.

Can I still get library items?

This is a good time for accessing the library’s online resources. Downloadable books, audio books and magazines are available on the library’s website at www.madawaskavalleylibrary.ca . Click on the eResources tab and you will find the Overdrive tab for ebooks and audio books. Our online magazine source, Flipster, is found in the eResources section under the “Ebsco” tab.

What about books and DVDs?

If you would like an item from the library’s collection we can help you with that. Phone, email or use the “Reserve” function on our online catalogue to request an item. We will check the books / DVDs out to your account and package and label them with your name for pick-up.  Your items will be ready for pick-up the day after you have requested them. We will have a pick-up zone just inside the Library’s front door. It will be open between 3:00 – 5:00 pm from Monday to Friday. The doors will be unlocked at this time and are for picking up items only. Email your requests to mvpl.programs@gmail.com or phone 613-756-2000.

And other services?

  • During closure the library will suspend fines.
  • DVD loans will be extended to a 3 weeks loan.
  • The Interlibrary Loan Service has been suspended until further notice.
  • If you wish to return any items to the library there is a drop box to the left of the front door.
  • We will not be accepting book donations until further notice.

Staff will be available by phone or email to help with any of the online resources or questions you may have. We’re happy to serve you despite these restrictions.
