Valley take-out and shopping update

Local businesses are adjusting their services for Valley residents to help inhibit the spread of COVID-19. The Current offers this update about the services they are providing while subject to the provincial closure order. Please note that restaurants may provide ONLY take-out food, and all bars and seating areas are closed. New information not provided in our previous articles is underlined below — please let us know if you hear of any changes.

Groceries & pharmacy

Barry’s Bay

• Barry’s Bay Metro: 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Seniors 65+ only; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. general shopping.
• Lorraine’s Pharmasave: 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Seniors 65+ only; then general shopping until regular closing times.
• Madawaska Valley Food Bank, 19460 Opeongo Line: Clients will find a drive-through pre-packaged system for Mar.24 session starting at 9:30 a.m. (no arrivals earlier than 8:30 a.m. please). Walkers will be accommodated as they arrive. Monitor Facebook for updates. Click HERE for more information
• Pantry Savings: regular hours 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. Note: staff will sign for your Purolator, Fedex and UPS parcels on your behalf. 
• Yuill’s ValuMart: 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. Seniors 65+ only; 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. general shopping

Combermere

• CO County Markets: Call 613.756.1113 in advance to place an order. When you arrive they will bring your order out to your car. Debit payment available.

Take-out food/coffee

Barry’s Bay

• Ash Grove Inn: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Please refer to Facebook for limited take-out menu and delivery area. This Sat/Sun home delivery on a trial basis 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
• Balmoral Hotel: closed until further notice.
• Barry’s Bay Dairy: closed to Mar.31.
• Barry’s Bay Legion Branch 406: closed.
• Charlie D’s: Tues-Sun 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Please order in advance if possible 613.756.7162
• Madawaska Coffee Café: Mon-Fri 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sat 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Prefer cashless payment.
• Opeongo Seniors Centre: closed.
• Pizza-Pizza (at Yuill’s ValuMart): Sun. to Wed 11:00 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Thurs. to Sat 11:00 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Spectacle Lake Lodge and The Lakeside Smokehouse: closed to April 3.
• Subway: Mon-Thurs, Sat: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Fri: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Sun: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• The Bean coffee shop at St. Francis Memorial Hospital: closed.
• Tim Hortons: open 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily for drive-thru only.
• Vito’s Pizzeria: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

Combermere

• Heartwood Restaurant: Tuesday to Saturday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. All live music performances postponed. Please refer to Facebook for take-out menu.
• The Old School Café Laundry and Greenhouses: daily 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Laundromat open during same hours.) Usual menu available for take-out only. Also pop-up bakery for fresh-baked products to take out, including gluten-free options.

Wilno

• Wilno Tavern is closed until further notice.
