Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) has updated its COVID-19 Case Summary today, Monday May 25, to confirm case numbers from last Friday and test results over the weekend. On May 22 RCDHU confirmed that a resident at Riverview Heights Retirement Residence in Pembroke had tested positive for COVID-19 as a result of the proactive surveillance testing of asymptomatic patients in long-term care and retirement homes. This was the first positive test in more than 2,700 asymptomatic tests conducted during the previous two weeks. RCDHU said in order to confirm that the result was not an error, the original test was being reassessed that day and the resident was being retested.
RCDHU has now provided an update, but a COVID-19 outbreak was declared at Riverview Heightson May 22nd, and the resident and their contacts were isolated. RCDHU and Riverview Heights are working to ensure that all infection prevention and control measures are taken to contain any spread. May 25th Case Summary below:
