A news release received May 27 from the Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) and the Renfrew County Virtual Triage Assessment Centre (RCVTAC) states that the County of Renfrew Paramedic Services will be making additional testing available at pre-scheduled testing site locations throughout Renfrew County and District in the coming weeks. Dr. Robert Cushman, Acting Medical Officer of Health, states that he “encourages testing of any resident who is symptomatic or has concerns that they may have been exposed to COVID-19”. In response to Phase One of the provincial government’s reopening framework, which eases mobility restrictions and other public health measures in our communities, testing is available for the following populations:
Symptomatic testing:
- All people with at least one symptom of COVID-19, even for mild symptoms.
Asymptomatic, risk-based testing:
- People who are concerned that they have been exposed to COVID-19. This includes people who are contacts of or may have been exposed to a confirmed or suspected case.
- People who are at risk of exposure to COVID-19 through their employment, including essential workers (e.g. health care workers, grocery store employees, food processing plants).
How to get tested:
Residents of Renfrew County and District who would like to be tested are asked to contact Renfrew County Virtual Triage Assessment Centre (RCVTAC) at 1-844-727-6404 or RCDHU at 613-735-8654 or 1-800-267-1097 to pre-register. They will then receive the date and time for the next clinic depending on their area of the county.
