Single vehicle collision leads to impaired driving charge

A single vehicle collision in Madawaska Valley Township has resulted in charges against the driver.

Shortly before 6:30 p.m. on August 22, 2020, officers with the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a vehicle which had rolled over in the ditch along Cybulski Road, near Hildebrandt Street. There were no injuries.

The investigation found that the truck had been reported stolen in the area.

Joshua ZILNEY, age 24 of Maynooth, Ontario has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs Criminal Code (CC) sec. 320.14(1)(a)
  • Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) – CC sec. 320.14(1)(a)
  • Theft over $5000 of a motor vehicle – CC sec. 334(a)
  • Operation while suspended – Highway Traffic Act sec. 53(1)
  • Driving motor vehicle with open liquor – Liquor Licence Act sec. 32(1)

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Killaloe on September 23, 2020.

During the investigation, a second driver was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. The 61 year old male was issued a three day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension after test results indicated the individual had been drinking, but had Blood Alcohol levels below the impaired limit.
