The True North Stronger Campaign saw $10,000 donated by Northern Credit Union alongside their members to United Way for Pandemic Recovery. The fund, launched in June of this year, is comprised of public donations and a matching corporate contribution used to support the immediate needs of local communities. Richard Adam, President, and CEO of Northern Credit Union, explained the fund has assisted in replenishing food banks, giving children access to mental health services, housing, and addiction services during social isolation, delivered food to seniors and those at risk of COVID-19 infection, and much more.
Lynn Beauchamp, Barry’s Bay Branch Manager, said, “This fund was a great example of Northern’s commitment to our communities and those neighbours who need help the most. That’s what Northern has always been about. Together we’re stronger.”
Beauchamp said, “Here in Barry’s Bay, in addition to collecting donations for the True North Stronger Fund, we also participated in a Keep Your Roots Local Staff campaign that awarded staff with $100 to reinvest back into small business and their communities. As one of the winning submissions Barry’s Bay was able to support Game On – a youth program run through CRC Killaloe – with a $100 gift card from Metro to contribute to their healthy eating programs and other essential items.”
