On Thursday, October 29, students in Grades 1-8 at Killaloe Public School took part in the first annual KPS Zombie Run. While this cross-country running event was organized in lieu of the cancelled, inter-school 2020 Partridge Run, students and staff enjoyed the Zombie Run event so much that talk has begun about holding the event again next year.
Though the weather was overcast and cool, runners burned up the course and competed for ribbons and first place prizes. The course wound its way through the spacious and forested schoolyard at Killaloe Public School, with runners kept on course by volunteer student course marshals. The school welcomed back Leslie Muzzi, recently retired, to be the guest race starter.
Each class ran its own race, and prizes were awarded to the first three male and female finishers in each grade. Judging by the number of collapsed students at the finish line, students competed well on the flat, but technical, course. Non-racing classes stayed safely distanced in a designated watching/cheering area, and showed excellent spirit by cheering all runners, whether at the beginning of the field, or the end. Congratulations to all for helping make it a fun and memorable event.
