The following media release was received today from Valley Manor Long Term Care in Barry’s Bay.
Today, Feb.12, Valley Manor Long Term Care was declared in COVID-19 outbreak. Through the weekly surveillance testing, one staff member received a positive test result. This individual will be retested and is currently self-isolating at home for 14 days. The isolation period will not be shortened even if the second test comes back negative.
Consistent with provincial directives, when a long term care home receives one positive Covid-19 result, it is immediately placed in outbreak.
At this time, there are no other confirmed cases at Valley Manor.
The focus is currently on containing the situation and mitigating risk to residents and staff. Valley Manor is working in partnership with Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) to implement outbreak protocols to effectively manage the situation swiftly.
Valley Manor thanks the community for its understanding during this time and assures the public that it is continuing to make decisions in the best interest of our residents and staff to ensure that their health and safety is first and foremost.
