The Opeongo Readers’ Theatre presents “Lady Gregory’s St. Patrick”

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by listening to a new podcast on The Opeongo Line on Sunday, Mar.14th any time after 2 p.m.  It’s the tale of how a very resourceful Augusta Gregory obtained a clearer picture of Ireland’s Patron Saint from the best sources readily available to her: ancient Irish manuscripts and ancient Irish story-tellers in her Galway neighbourhood who had kept the folktales of St. Patrick alive for 1,500 years. Pop Up Art is popping up across Renfrew County

Welcome to My World: Ottawa Valley Community Arts (OV-CAOS) invites you to the new Pop Up Art Exhibition now on display at Fifth Chute Coffee in Eganville. Welcome to My World features the works of nine artists from across the Ottawa Valley who have each created a miniature world that reflects their inner experiences, comforts and longings during this time of uncertainty. Among the artists featured in the exhibition are Wren Crossland and Shanti McPhee from Killaloe; Bridget Haworth from Brudenell; Genevieve Townsend and Stephanie Keon Pinkerton, from Eganville; Sylvia Tennisco from Pikwakanagan; Debbie Montgomery and Paula LaPierre from Pembroke; and Eppo Van Houten from Deep River.

Welcome to My World will be on display in the Ottawa Valley from March to October 2021, moving to the Arnprior Public Library in May, and then Garrison Petawawa in August. Along with this ongoing exhibition, the Pop Up Art project offers many other ways to experience art in communities across the Valley, including an art installation at Shaw Woods, Pop Up Poetry, and book art kits coming soon to your local library. These exhibitions and experiences offer Ottawa Valley residents the opportunity to interact with art in public spaces, and to have meaningful encounters with art in their day-to-day lives. And because this art is in shared, public spaces, Pop Up Art events carefully adhere to all current public health protocols. Since they are mandatory anyway, consider wearing your most colourful or creative mask when you visit the exhibition, and always maintain a six-foot distance from other visitors.

If you would like to get involved with Pop Up Art, please visit ov-caos.org for more information.

Poetry Series: Ottawa Valley Community Arts invites you to join in writing a community poem together inspired by the feeling of LONGING. Your words and phrases will be turned into poetry by community poets Andrew Trull and Sigrid Geddes. Click HERE to leave a few words or phrases on the subject of LONGING as a comment on the OV-CAOS Facebook page.
