Driver of motorcycle deceased – OPP investigate Combermere Road collision

On Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at approximately 2:30 p.m., members of the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Combermere Road, near Chippawa Road, in the Township of Madawaska Valley.

A portion of Combermere Road between Lakeshore Drive and Old Barry’s Bay Road remained closed for approximately five hours to facilitate police investigation into the cause of the collision. Renfrew County Ambulance attended the scene, along with the OPP’s Technical Collision Investigators (TCI).

Police investigation has revealed the driver of the motorcycle was travelling southbound on Combermere Road. The motorcycle left the roadway, and the driver was ejected from the motorcycle. CPR was performed on the driver by emergency services personnel. The 72 year old driver, Monte MCGIBBON of Lamable, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A post mortem has been scheduled. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

This is the second fatal collision investigated by the Killaloe OPP in 2021.
