Year-long investigation results in charges of Break and Enter at Madawaska Valley business

On Friday, July 31, 2020, at approximately 9:40 p.m., members of the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a break and enter to a trailer located at an electrical business, on Highway 60, in the Township of Madawaska Valley.

Police investigation revealed that a number of assorted tools and construction equipment were reported stolen. The OPP Scenes of Crimes Officer (SOCO), attended the scene and collected evidence. The OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) took carriage of the investigation, in coordination with Killaloe OPP, and have laid the following Criminal Code charges on 40 year old Michael KWIAS of Oakville:

  • Break and Enter – Commit Indictable Offence
  • Theft Over $5000

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 9:30 a.m., Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke.

Threat charge laid against BLR man

On Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at approximately 11:10 a.m., members of the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a threats call on Palmer Road, in the Township of Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged 63 year old Mark O’REILLY from Palmer Rapids with the following Criminal Code offence:

  • Utter Threat.

 The accused was held pending a bail court hearing, released on conditions, and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe.

Domestic incident results in criminal charges

On Friday, July 16, 2021, members of the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a domestic disturbance, which occurred in the Township of Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged a 36 year old from Bonnechere Valley with the following Criminal Code offences:

  •  Domestic Utter Threat, and;
  • Obstruct Peace Officer.

The accused was released on conditions, and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice, Killaloe. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
