COVID-19 update from Holy Canadian Martyrs Parish Council in Combermere

According to a letter from the Parish Council dated Oct.22, a recent inspection and meeting with Renfrew County and District Health Unit personnel confirmed the following:

  • Mandatory mask-wearing
  • Parishioners are asked to please self-screen at home before coming to church. A provincial online tool can be used at home at this link: COVID-19 customer screening (ontario.ca)
  • More regular sanitising of surfaces
  • Holy Communion continues as before, but without the no-mask area
  • Adherence to the Oct.5 directive from Diocese of Pembroke regarding singing: “RCDHU will allow singing with masks on, at a normal speaking volume, while the congregation is spaced 2 metres apart (not including households or caregivers). In this circumstance, we feel the risk of COVID transmission is greatly reduced. Please ensure that your congregation adheres to these restrictions for the time being until the provincial government makes further changes.”
  • Bishop Desrochers reminds parishioners that the obligation to attend Sunday Mass is still suspended in the Diocese of Pembroke.

I think that it is important that everyone realizes that the requirements for masking etc that HCM has so kindly brought up is applicable to all parishes of all denominations.
