BLR Councillor John Rutledge to seek re-election

Ward 1 incumbent Councillor John Henry Rutledge has put his name forward to run for Council in this fall’s municipal election. (Shown above at Feb.2022 Council meeting. Photo YouTube) Rutledge is the only candidate declared as certified by Deputy Clerk Virginia Phanenhour as of May 10 on the Township website. So far, there are no candidates registered for the position of BLR Township mayor or for any of the school board positions. Prospective candidates for the positions of Councillor and Mayor still have plenty of time to be nominated. The nomination period is open from May 1 until August 19 at 2 pm. New election rules this year include the ability to file nominations electronically, if allowed by your local municipality. The council and school board term of office will run from November 15, 2022 to November 14, 2026.
