Every year Rosanne Hoffman sets a lofty goal for the annual online auction, and every year, that goal has been exceeded thanks to the generous support of the bidders in the community and beyond. One hundred percent volunteer driven, the fifth annual online auction is once again raising funds for local healthcare including the purchase of a new defibrillator unit for St. Francis Memorial Hospital. These are lifesaving devices that are used in emergency situations to correct an uneven heartbeat in a patient.

Hoffman has spent the last four months chatting with individuals and business owners, and inspiring donations for the online auction. As has done in the past, Hoffman has secured an amazing array of items that everyone is encouraged to bid on.
Some of the hot items include an outdoor movie night, various types of artwork from local artisans, a paddleboard, cash, gift cards and gift baskets, quilts, an iPad, Deerhurst and Wolf Ridge golf packages, a king-sized adjustable bed and so much more.
Hoffman said she doesn’t do it for the accolades; rather, she wants to help ensure the future of local healthcare in her community. Like many in the region, she has used the hospital’s emergency department countless times for herself and her family. More recently Hoffman and her family were able to visit their mother Doris Hudder during her final days at the hospital.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have a hospital close to home. It’s so important that we do what we can to support it,” Hoffman said. “However, we couldn’t do it without the support of the many businesses and individuals who give so generously to the cause. The support from everyone – businesses and individual donors – continues to amaze me.”

Running in conjunction with the Friends of St. Francis Charity Golf Tournament, the online auction features more than 80 items to bid on. There is something for every budget. Hoffman hopes everyone logs on and supports the cause.
The auction is now live online and bids are accepted until Friday, September 2 at 5 p.m. – when the Friends of St. Francis Charity Golf Tournament culminates at the Homestead at Wolf Ridge.
