Planned emergency exercise at St. Francis Hospital

Next Wednesday Oct.12 patients and visitors at St. Francis Memorial Hospital (SFMH) in Barry’s Bay have no cause for alarm. SFMH will conduct a planned emergency exercise between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. that day. Hospital staff and the Renfrew County Paramedics will participate in a CBRN Exercise (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear) at SFMH. During this planned/ false emergency scenario, students will be play-acting as patients affected by a Chemical Incident, who require decontamination and treatment.

SFMH Chief Operating Office Greg McLeod said, “Visitors and patients should not be alarmed or concerned…. Hospital and Paramedic services will continue as per normal.”
