Police seek witnesses to armed robbery in Arnprior

Members of the Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), East Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the Renfrew Crime Unit are investigating an armed robbery at a local business in the Town of Arnprior.

On April 19, 2023, at approximately 5:00 a.m., officers responded to a report of an armed robbery on Madawaska Street in the Town of Arnprior. The suspects fled the scene and were gone upon police arrival.

As a result of the investigation, police are looking for 3 males suspects. The males were described as in their 20’s with the following descriptors:

Male #1- black medical mask and black pants

Male #2- black hoodie and black pants

Male #3- black hoodie and black pants

Renfrew OPP is looking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects.

Pembroke resident charged with retail store thefts

An individual from the Pembroke area is facing multiple Criminal Code (CC) charges after an investigation by members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

Officers began investigating after multiple thefts from retail stores, in the east end of Pembroke, were reported in late March 2023.    

On April 17, 2023, members of OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) made an arrest in connection with this case. 47-year-old Ian HOPPER was arrested and charged with the following offences under the CC:

  • Theft under $5000 – three counts
  • Fail to comply with probation – 11 counts

The accused was held for a bail hearing and subsequently released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on May 23, 2023.

OPP charge Killaloe individual after break, enter and theft investigation

Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a Killaloe resident after a break, enter and theft investigation.

Police were called to investigate after a break and enter was discovered at an apartment in Pembroke’s east end on March 30, 2023. Cash, footwear, and personal effects were amongst the items stolen. Police made an arrest in relation to this case on April 8, 2023.    

As a result of this investigation 42-year-old Jaclyn SHAFFER is charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:

  • Break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Theft under $5000

The accused was released to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on May 9, 2023.

Transmission of intimate images without consent result in charges

The Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged one individual from Hastings Highlands in connection with an incident related to inappropriate images. 

On April 6, 2023, the Bancroft OPP responded to a report of a person sharing intimate images without consent.

A resident of Hastings Highlands has been arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Transmit intimate images without consent
  • Extortion
  • Voyeurism

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on April 25, 2023.

It is an offence to transmit intimate images without consent. Everyone who knowingly publishes, distributes, posts it online or shares an intimate image of a person, knowing that the person depicted in the image did not give their permission, is committing an offence. An intimate image is defined as being one in which the subject is nude, partially nude or engaged in explicit sexual activity, regardless of their age.

Whitney resident charged following damage to guard rails at Aylen Lake Road

Police have identified the driver involved in a recent collision which left several guard rails damaged.

On March 31, 2023, just after 5:30 p.m., members of the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a fail to remain collision involving a black pick-up truck on 60 Highway near Aylen Lake Road, in the Township of South Algonquin.

Police have charged an 18-year-old from Whitney with Fail to report damage to property on highway, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant was issued a Provincial Offence Act notice.
