Two dead in Pembroke – third victim with life-threatening injuries

The Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating the homicide deaths of two individuals in Pembroke.

Officers were called to a residence on Mackay Street shortly before 3:00 a.m. on May 22, 2023, where police found two people with life-threatening injuries. Both individuals were transported to hospital, where one person was pronounced deceased. The second victim remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Shortly afterwards, a third person was located deceased not far from the initial scene.

Investigators believe the victims were targeted.

Police are asking the public to report any suspicious activity in the area, and to be mindful of their own personal safety. 

If anyone has any information that may assist the investigation, they should contact the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP at 1-888-310-1122 (or 911 in an emergency) or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) Canine Unit, the Upper Ottawa Valley Crime Unit and the OPP Forensic Identification Unit are engaged in the investigation, under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and Centre of Forensic Sciences.

Residents of the area should expect to see a large police presence.

The investigation is in its early stages and more information will be released when available.

Renfrew homicide victim identified

The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has released the identity of the victim of a homicide in the Town of Renfrew.

 The victim has been identified as Jonathan LOGAN, 41-years-old of Renfrew County.

 Police continue to investigate the death, which happened shortly before 10:30 p.m. on May 19, 2023, at a home on Vimy Boulevard, where officers found a victim who had sustained gunshot wounds. The individual was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

 The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival and remains outstanding.

 Police believe the victim was targeted.

 The investigation is being conducted by the Renfrew OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Centre of Forensic Sciences. Members of the OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit are assisting.
