Report of Combermere bridge jump unfounded say OPP

On Sunday, July 9 The Current reported that police were seeking public assistance to identify an unknown male aged 20-35 who jumped off the Mill Street Bridge in Combermere at approximately 3pm on Saturday July 8 2023 and did not resurface. Late on July 9, Ontario Provincial Police East Region posted the following update on social media:

After an extensive search of the water and surrounding area including use of the underwater search team, police have determined the report of an unknown male jumping into the Mill Street Bridge in Combermere is unfounded.

Police have not provided details of witnesses or other source of the original information.
