Bonnechere Authors Festival

Editor’s Note: BUPL has advised that tonight’s speaker, Fiona King Foster, has had to postpone her talk due to illness. The Library will advise of a new date for the talk to be held sometime in August.

Two more authors for you to meet this summer while enjoying stories, conversation and dessert thanks to the ever popular annual Bonnechere Authors Festival. On Monday, July 24 Brudenell native, Fiona King Foster, will talk about her book ‘The Captive.’ The following Monday, July 31 author Tim Cook will discuss his work ‘Lifesavers and Body Snatchers.’ Doors open at 6:30pm both days at the Eagles’ Nest, Eganville. Story Time in the Park

Dinosaurs are the theme at 10:30am on Tuesday, July 25 at Zurakowski Park in Barry’s Bay. Madawaska Valley Public Library presents this free programme for children of all ages. This week’s story time reader is MV Councillor Mary Blank.


BLR Seniors Summer Lunch

The BLR Seniors Summer Lunch at Palmer Rapids Rec Centre takes place on Tuesday, July 25 between 11:30am and 1:00pm. Enjoy a sandwich and salad lunch with potluck dessert, music, plus a chance to try your hand at Pickleball before or after lunch. KAPOA Poker Run

Kamaniskeg Property Owners Association’s (KAPOA) annual fundraising event for local healthcare is next Saturday July 29 between 9am and 3:30pm. This year’s goal is to raise $27,000 for the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation. Boat and bike tours begin at 9am and 10am at the Barry’s Bay Boat Launch. Entry fees are $200 / boat (can enter a virtual boat); $50 per bike (E-Bikes welcome); $75 for a family bike ride; or donate to support the purchase of the baby isolette. On-site registration starts at 8:30am.
