Killaloe OPP investigate suspected drowning in Dam Lake

Killaloe OPP is currently investigating a recent suspected drowning death.

On July 29, 2023, just before 6:00 p.m., members of the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a 911 call involving an unresponsive person who was located in shallow water on Dam Lake, in the Township of Madawaska Valley.

CPR lifesaving measures were performed on the individual by community members and paramedics at the scene prior to transport to the hospital. Despite lifesaving measures an 18-year-old from Madawaska Valley was pronounced deceased. The Office of the Chief Coroner has been engaged, and a postmortem has been ordered. The death has been ruled as non-suspicious at this time.
