Police investigate thefts from vehicles in Barry’s Bay

Police are currently investigating two separate incidents involving thefts from vehicles.

On August 15, 2023, just before 9:00 a.m., officers from the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft call for service on Bay Street in the Township of Madawaska Valley.

Unknown culprit(s) entered a vehicle and stole a purse and identification.

On August 18, 2023, just before 10:30 a.m. officers from the Killaloe Detachment of the OPP responded to a theft call for service on Kelly Street in the Township of Madawaska Valley.

Unknown culprit(s) entered the vehicle and stole change and other items.

Police would like to remind vehicle owners to lock the doors of their unattended vehicles and to keep valuables out of sight.

MV resident criminally charged following domestic disturbance

One person has been charged criminally as a result of a domestic disturbance.

On August 14, 2023, just after 7:30 a.m., officers from the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a domestic disturbance call for service at a residence in the Township of Madawaska Valley.

As a result of police investigation, a 44-year-old from Madawaska Valley Township has been charged with the assault with a weapon, contrary to the Criminal Code.

The accused person was released from custody with a court date scheduled on September 20, 2023.


Two break and enter incidents in BLR under investigation

Police are currently investigating two break and enter incidents.

On August 19, 2023, just before 7: 00 p.m., officers from the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a break and enter call for service involving two camper trailers on neighbouring lots on Burnt Bridge Road, in the Township of Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan.

Police believe that sometime between August 7, 2023, and August 12, 2023, unknown persons forced entry into the camper trailers. A storage trailer was also entered. A boat motor, generator, chainsaw and two propane tanks were stolen.
