General knowledge alone wasn’t enough for the fourteen teams participating in the Library’s Trivia Night on Friday – participants found trivia questions ranging from music and arts to history and sciences, with stops along the way in the fields of sport, astronomy, popular culture, mathematics, literature, geography, and – of course – local knowledge. Madawaska Valley Public Library CEO Natalie Barrington welcomed the crowd and introduced Sean Conway who read the questions. At the end of four hotly-contested rounds, congratulations and the coveted trophy went to Rural Roots. Above from left are team members Cheryl Glofcheskie, Cliff Blank, Mary Blank, Bob Shulist, Lynn Shulist, Danette Olsheskie.
Barrington thanked the many local businesses, organizations and individuals who provided numerous valuable prizes which were awarded by a Door Prize Draw throughout the evening or won in a Silent Auction. She also thanked Madawaska Valley Township for the use of the upstairs lounge at the Paul J. Yakabuski Community Centre, and The Current for providing snacks to keep the trivia teams full of energy. Library Board members and volunteers assisted with scoring and MV High School students earned community hours by posting the results.
