Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 28 domestic disputes during the week of November 12-18, 2024.
City of Pembroke: On the evening of November 12, 2024, officers began investigating a report of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) release conditions being breached in the City of Pembroke. As a result of the investigation police have charged a 45-year-old of no fixed address with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:
- Failure to comply with undertaking – two counts
The accused was released to appear on a future date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
In the early morning hours of November 15, 2024, police began investigating after a report of a domestic dispute in the City of Pembroke involving the breach of release conditions associated to prior IPV charges. As a result of this investigation a 26-year-old from Pembroke has been charged with the following CC offences:
- Failure to comply with undertaking – two counts
- Fail to comply with probation
The accused was held for a bail hearing and subsequently released to appear on a future date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
Whitewater Region: On the afternoon of November 15, 2024, police began investigating a report of an IPV incident involving an assault in Whitewater Region (WWR). As a result of this incident an 18-year-old from WWR has been charged with the following CC offences:
- Assault – spousal
- Mischief – domestic
- Assault with a weapon -spousal
The accused was released to appear on a future date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
Pembroke: On the evening of November 15, 2024, officers responded to an IPV incident involving a report of an assault in Pembroke. As a result of this investigation a 50-year-old from Pembroke has been charged wit the following CC offences:
• Assault – spousal – two counts
The accused was released to appear on a future date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
Killaloe Hagarty Richards: In the early morning hours of November 16, 2024, officers responded to a single-vehicle collision in Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Township. Investigation found that two occupants of the vehicle were breaching release conditions associated to prior IPV charges.
As a result of this investigation an 18-year-old and 27-year-old, both from Pembroke, will each face a CC charge of failing to comply with an undertaking at a future date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
Madawaska Valley: On the morning of November 16, 2024, officers responded to a domestic dispute in Madawaska Valley Township. Investigation found a vehicle was driven into the victim’s vehicle causing extensive damage. As a result of this incident a 35-year-old from Madawaska Valley has been charged with the following CC offence:
• Mischief over $5000
The accused was released to appear on a future date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
Brudenell Lyndoch and Raglan: On the afternoon of November 17, 2024, officers responded to a domestic dispute involving property damage at a residence in Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan (BLR) Township. Further investigation found that the victim had been threatened and assaulted. Police seized a firearm and ammunition and arrested one individual at the scene. As a result of this investigation a 51-year-old from BLR Township has been charged with the following CC offences:
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm – spousal
- Assault with a weapon
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Careless storage of a firearm
- Mischief – domestic
The accused was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody until their next appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
Laurentian Valley: On the afternoon of November 18, 2024, officers began investigating a report of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) release conditions being breached in the Township of Laurentian Valley. As a result of this investigation police have charged a 37-year-old from Petawawa with one count of failing to comply with an undertaking contrary to the CC.
The accused was held for a bail hearing and subsequently released to appear on a future date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
