Start 2025 as you mean to go on. Here are some feel-good Valley activities and events to help you do just that.
Sing
Sing your way through the winter evenings with the Dark Times Choir on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8 pm. Emily Adams leads this informal choir at 12 North Street Community Centre in Killaloe. No singing experience or registration is required for this activity from Ottawa Valley Community Arts (OV-CAOS). Everyone is welcome (under 10s must have adult accompaniment). Improve your mood, energy and immune system by singing for the fun of it! Enquiries by email: adam.emilyj@gmail.com
Walk
This winter you have two options to walk your way to fitness in Barry’s Bay:
- Outdoors: Every Friday at 1pm an adult walking group meets at the Madawaska Valley Public Library, and returns to the Library for a hot drink after a trek around the village.
- Indoors: The Indoor Walking Club meets Monday and Wednesday evenings until March 31st between 6 and 8pm at Madawaska Valley District School. Adults, teens, seniors are invited to bring indoor walking shoes and drinking water to participate in this free program run by community volunteers.
Craft
Madawaska Valley Public Library hosts a Craft & Chat session for adults on Friday, Jan.24th at 10:30am. Join others for a social time while you create your Vision Board for 2025.
Shop
Indoor Farmers Market – If you missed the first 2025 market, never fear. There’s another one coming up in February where you can socialize while you shop for local produce and crafts. The Killaloe Farmers Market takes place on the first Saturday of month from 10am -2pm at the Killaloe Lions Club, Lake Street, Killaloe.
Create
Intergenerational Open Studio on Saturday, Jan.18 from 1pm-4pm at the Brudenell Lyndoch Raglan Community Centre in Palmer Rapids. All ages are welcome at this free art workshop provided by OV-CAOS.
Be inspired
