Born and raised in Renfrew County, Oliver is an engaged community leader, youth advocate and volunteer who has worked in communities across Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke. Between 2018 and 2022, Oliver served as one of the youngest municipal councillors in the history of the Township of McNab/Braeside. As a municipal politician, Oliver championed recreation and culture, community engagement and enhanced communication with residents over his term. He also brings proven leadership experience through various volunteer roles including as the current Chair of the Arnprior Regional Health Board of Directors, Board Director with United Way East Ontario, and Board Director with the Arnprior and District Food Bank. Oliver has also been actively involved with local education and community services having volunteered with the Renfrew and area Community Safety and Wellbeing Planning Table, the Renfrew County Youth Network and the RCDSB Parent Involvement Committee for many years.
After completing a Bachelor of Arts with double major in History and Politics at Acadia University in Nova Scotia, Oliver returned to Renfrew County to serve his constituents in McNab/Braeside and to start his career working with both the Town of Arnprior and the Labour Market Group of Renfrew and Lanark. These professional experiences have proven the need for a strong, compassionate government that listens to the unique needs of rural workers, businesses and community groups and to provide real leadership on key local issues like recruiting family doctors to our rural communities, building more affordable and attainable housing for all local residents, strengthening our local education system with lower class sizes and desperately needed supports for children with special needs, ending broadband and cellular service coverage to every single part of our region and building the infrastructure of the future with a four-laned Highway 17/417 from the Town of Arnprior to the United Townships of Head, Clara and Maria.
