Police seek public help to solve 20-year-old fatal hit and run in Barry’s Bay

Investigators are urging anyone with information about a fatal hit and run, that took place two decades ago, to come forward.

Bernice BILLINGS was 78 years old when she was fatally injured in a hit and run collision on Inglis Street in Barry’s Bay on February 5, 2005, sometime between 8:05 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Officers from the former Killaloe Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment, other detachments and the Renfrew County OPP Crime Unit have followed up on multiple tips and leads over the years, but none have resulted in finding the person responsible.

The investigation is now being conducted by the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
