The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a reported a weapon-related call in the Whitney area.
On March 17, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., police were called to an empty lot on Hay Creek Road in South Algonquin Township after a delivery driver reported being held against their will that afternoon.
The victim allegedly encountered a female and male armed with a handgun on Little Ireland Road in Brudenell-Lyndoch-Raglan Township early that afternoon. The two individuals reportedly accompanied the driver in the van which then travelled on area roads including Mayhew Road, New Carlo Road, Little Papineau Lake Road and Highway 127 before stopping on Hay Creek Road. Once at that location the driver told police that the two individuals exited the white full-size delivery van and left on foot.
The OPP’s Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit were called-in but were unsuccessful in locating any trace of the individuals. The OPP’s Forensic Identification Services (FIS) Unit and the UOV OPP Crime Unit are assisting with the investigation.
